“On the third day, my favourite day, we learned about everything a fly-man does, this day was my favourite because I found new confidence in myself that I never knew I had.” (Chloe, Work Experience Week 2019)

Fly-man is just one of the jobs at Northern Stage – want to find out what the others are?

We offer a week-long introduction to non-acting careers in theatre for students from Year 10 - Sixth Form. Through participating in a practical project, students will work in teams to produce a scene from a play. They will be introduced to technical, production and administrative jobs, and role play one of those jobs while being guided by industry professionals.

Applications are now open for our Work Experience Week, 28 June – 2 July 2021. The application form can be found at the bottom of this page.

The closing date is 5pm on 30 April.

We will invite short-listed applicants to do a short phone or Zoom interview – don’t let this put you off, it’s good practice for future job interviews and we’ll supply the questions in advance so you can feel more prepared.

Northern Stage is committed to widening participation and we are keen to receive applications from young people who are in receipt of free school meals, whose families are in receipt of means-tested benefits, those who identify as Black and ethnically diverse, those with refugee status, those who have a disability or learning difficulty of any kind.

If you are a young person, teacher or parent/guardian who’d like to know more,
please email Susan Mulholland, [email protected].
