When there’s no rule book, you just have to write your own…
It’s fourteen years since Kate transitioned and a lot has changed. However, where gender is concerned, are we still stuck in the dark ages?
Through song, dance, hard-won wisdom and hilarity You’ve Changed shines a light on the ins and outs and ups and downs of transitioning. Challenging the idea that “genitals equal gender” Kate literally bares all; getting her own out on the proverbial table.
She’s changed: that’s clear, but have you?
Running time: 1hr (no interval)
Recommended age: 14+
Post-show discussion: Tue 31 Oct with Kate O'Donnell
Supported by Royal Exchange Theatre.
Reviews for You've Changed at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe:
★★★★ The Stage
"Bold & seriously funny.... A wise and witty one woman show which asks important questions about how asks important questions about the extent to which cultural expectations and conceptions of gender have transitioned."
★★★★ The List
"A thoughtful & beautiful look at identity.... Breezy one-liners, delivered with a purr... Thought-provoking, tender and witty... A triumphant paean to becoming true to yourself. Glamour has rarely been so oppositional – or so fierce."
★★★★ The Wee Review
"Part autobiographical storytelling, part musical cabaret... A compelling tale, delivered in a positive and engaging style. She is a brilliant performer."
"O'Donnell is endlessly watchable... Wry humour... A pioneering ride... Moving deftly from radical feminism to swinging song-and-dance numbers."
"An intimate exchange... Puts a spotlight on the nips and ticks of trans-liberation... Eyebrow-raising waggishness that is served with considerable dandyish charm." The Herald
