Open Stages is a weekly drama session for ages 5-7, 8-11 and 12-15. This is a relaxed, no-pressure environment where children and young people can get to know each other and make theatre together.

Over the course of 10 Saturday afternoon sessions, participants play drama games and work with a professional director to create an original piece of theatre based on their ideas. At the end of the year, there is a final performance where the groups join together so that you can see the results of their hard work and creative ideas.

At Northern Stage we want young performers to have exactly the same opportunities to develop their talent as older artists. This is a perfect opportunity for youngsters to get acquainted with a variety of theatrical approaches, apply what they learn to their school studies and encourages creativity, discipline, teamwork, sharing, confidence and play.

The next season of Open Stages will begin in the Autumn term 2018 and end with a performance in Spring term 2019. Dates will be confirmed and on sale soon.

Places cost: £60 per term (Bursary and concessions available)

"I just want to say that the 12-15 year olds open stage performance was utterly entertaining and thought provoking. All of the young people were fantastic and it’s incredible that Danielle was able to create such a marvellous piece of theatre in such a short space of time. I feel so fortunate that you have given my daughters the opportunity to have fun, and make new friends while developing their confidence, creativity and learning new skills in such a magical and inclusive environment."
