Far From The Norm

A theatrical experience combining Hip Hop theatre and film from dance experimentalist Botis Seva, CAN’T KILL US ALL reveals the detoriation of one man’s emotional sanity and physical stability as he confronts life in lockdown. From reflecting on childhood memories to reliving Black trauma, CAN’T KILL US ALL pushes through the darkness to find light, humility and peace.

Far From The Norm brought Botis Seva's BLKDOG to Northern Stage in March. Here is another chance to experience their genre-defying work as part of Filmed in Lockdown is a series of new works of literary, musical, visual, and performance arts, commissioned for Culture in Quarantine by Arts Council England BBC Arts and The Space Arts, supported by Sadler's Wells.

Gateway Studio Project

Gateway Studio CIO are delivering a range of online dance classes through their programme, [email protected] All classes are delievered via Zoom to enable participants to receive individual feedback as well as interacting with the teacher and other participants. Thanks to funding from the Arts Council England, classes are free of charge but donations to support future programmes are welcomed.

Phoenix Dance Theatre

Phoenix Dance Theatre performs Sharon Watson’s Windrush: Movement of the People, a contemporary dance work exploring the narrative of the arrival of SS Empire Windrush that brought the first Caribbean migrants to the UK. The show came to Northern Stage in 2018 as part of the 70th anniversary celebrations of SS Empire Windrush’s arrival.

Sh!t Theatre

The multi award-winning duo, SH!T THEATRE, are pleased to present their Fringe First award-winning and Total Theatre award-nominated Letters to Windsor House as an on-demand stream. With songs, politics, dodgy landlords and detective work, the national housing crisis gets deeply personal in a ‘hilarious and heartbreaking’ (★★★★ Sunday Times) show for Generation Rent. The Old Vic

Originally staged in 2018, we are returning to The Greatest Wealth series of monologues curated by Lolita Chakrabarti and directed by Adrian Lesterto mark the 70th anniversary of the NHS, as part of Your Old Vic. Spanning each decade since the creation of the NHS, audiences will have the chance to revisit all eight of the existing monologues plus a brand new commission for 2020 written by Booker Prize winning author Bernardine Evaristo.

Theatre Sans Frontiere

Theatre Sans Frontieres presents Como Agua Para Chocolate (Like Water For Chocolate). This production in Spanish and English was premiered in Northern Stage 2  and toured the UK twice (2006 & 2008). Performers included Alex Elliot and Sarah Kemp  among a cast of Mexican, Nicaraguan and Spanish actors, with Music by Iain Johnstone (from the NS  Ensemble).
