It's been a while since our last North East Culture Social and A LOT has happened in that time. So with us all back in lockdown it's definitely time for another big Zoom get-together.

What is the NE Culture Social

The NE Culture Social is a big Zoom call where freelancers, furloughed staff, artists, makers, production staff could ask for advice, share useful stuff, talk about the issues affecting them and just check in. It's a chance to meet people, catch up with old friends, and feel more connected to our brilliant NE arts community.

NE Culture Social #3: Comings & Goings - Wed 25 Nov, 4-5.30pm

At our third social, we'll be looking at how we welcome people to the North East and what we hope they'll bring. We'll also look at the things we want to leave behind when the NE cultural sector emerges from the Covid crisis. And finally what we can do about those people who are having to leave the sector even if we/they don't want to?

There will also be chance to hear from some recent arrivals and departures from the NE culture scene, with Northern Stage's new Artistic Director, Natalie Ibu, Dance City's new CEO Anand Bhatt and EJ Raymond a deaf freelance artist, recently moved to Newcastle. We’ll also hear from NE theatre-makers Meghan Doyle & Stan Hodgson, who have recently moved to London, sharing their thoughts on balancing a relationship with the region with pursuing opportunities further afield.

The session will run from 4-5.30pm (plus half an hour for purely social times at the end!).

Keep your eyes on #NECultureSocial on social media for updates and live sharing from the event. And if you missed the previous #NECultureSocial and want to get a flavour of it, check out this round-up video below, BSL interpreted by Caroline Ryan.

All the best as ever!

Annie & Michael (Unfolding Theatre), Amy & Jen (Curious Monkey), Ellie (Open Clasp), Humira, Kate, Mark & Louie (Northern Stage), Graeme (Live Theatre), Phil (Curious Arts), Rob (Gosforth Civic Theatre) and Christine (balletLORENT)
