What's On I Have Met The Enemy (And The Enemy Is Us) What if we said that Britain (this tiny island) is the second biggest arms dealer in the world? A Common Wealth and Northern Stage co-production, in association with Chapter and Southbank Centre.Funded by Arts Council England, Bradford Council, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Blue Stone Consortium and Well Newcastle Gateshead Book Now Walking Tours Behind the scenes Access A former British soldier, Palestinian actor and a Yemeni artist come together in a joint attempt to understand the UK arms trade and its impact around the world. Through differing perspectives and a shared love of techno, I Have Met the Enemy (and the enemy is us) takes us on a personal and political journey into the darkest corners of what makes Britain tick. Join acclaimed site-specific theatre company Common Wealth as they transform Byker Community Centre into a world charged with lasers, techno and robotic installation, asking audiences to take a close look at the UK defence industry and the role we play, as a nation and as individuals, in wars that are seemingly far away. I Have Met the Enemy is part techno party, part investigation and above all else, a call to action. “Common Wealth will be changing the way we look at the world for years to come.” - John McGrath, Manchester International Festival Cast and Creatives Devised by Common Wealth in collaboration with Alexander Eley, Mo’min Swaitat, Shatha Altawai and writer Hassan Mahamdallie Performed by Mo’min Swaitat, Alexander Eley and Shatha Altawai Byker community cast: Cooper McDonough, David Beech, Lee Foster, Majid Jalali, Nadia Rafi, Sherilyn Oliphant, Tia-Bella Easton Co-directors: Evie Manning and Rhiannon White Comra Film Director: Osama Haji Designer: Robbie Thomson Design assistant: Jamie Grier Lighting Designer: Andy Purves Production Manager: Greg Akehurst Stage Manager: Amy Chandler Music: Oxia-domino and ODDZProducers: Ali Ford & Saliha RubaniAssistant Producers: Mariyah Kayat & Sajidah ShabirCompany Manager: Tracy Basu #IHaveMetTheEnemy Please note that all performances will take place at Byker Community Centre and not Northern Stage.
