Northern Stage chosen as regional host for the Stage One Producer Placement in 2018

The Stage One Producer Placements offer unique hands-on training and development opportunities within established producing companies for outstanding entrepreneurial individuals.

Along with host organisations, Leicester Curve Theatre, Dundee Rep, and Exeter Northcott, Northern Stage will expose placements to high quality, potentially commercial work and allow them to develop the commercial aspirations of the organisation through co-productions, touring and/or transfers.

The placement will develop the trainee producer's knowledge through hands-on experience and increase their commerical contacts within the industry.

Matthew Runham, Senior Producer, Northern Stage said:
“We’re excited to be offering a Trainee Producer placement here at Northern Stage with Stage One. In 2013 I was fortunate enough to work with one of the first regional placements in Leicester and know from experience what a Stage One candidate can bring to an organisation.
Five years on from the placement she is now a Producer at Northern Stage, responsible for delivering shows as ambitious as Sting’s personal and political musical The Last Ship, our popular Christmas productions, as well as an eclectic range of other in-house productions, co-productions and artist development opportunities. I’m a huge believer in learning whilst doing the job and this placement is an opportunity to develop producing experience across the board in a dynamic and creative environment. Stage One’s fantastic programme of workshops underpins this learning and allows a genuine fast track in a competitive and complex industry.”
