Come along early to a performance of I Have Met The Enemy (And The Enemy Is Us) for a walking tour or presentation about the area.

The tours and presentations encompass a history of the estate prior to its inception, the ideas behind its design and implementation, it’s social and architectural significance now a Grade II star listed building and UNESCO 20th century building of outstanding merit, the philosophy and work of Ralph Erskine, the relevance of the estate now in its 50th anniversary year and it’s future for the next 50 years.

Choose between a 60 min walking tour of the estate on Saturday afternoons or a pre-show lecture (seated) at Byker Community Centre on Thursday evenings.

Tours and presentations are led Steve Sheraton. A resident of the estate for over 25 years Steve studied architecture at Newcastle University and Huddersfield Polytechnic before working for several large local firms eventually establishing his own practice. A keen artist Steve is part of the #thisisbyker campaign focused on producing positive images of the iconic estate. He is also currently secretary of the estate’s Tenants and Residents Association.
