Northern Stage at St Stephen's is a new adventure for Northern Stage and some theatre-makers, organisations and artists from the greater north of England.
In 2011 we decided that we wanted to shout about and showcase some of the inventive, innovative and exciting work that is being created in the north of England, by artists that may be from here or have chosen to base themselves here, some of it about the north, some of it about their views of the world. The result in 2012 was a massive success with over 8000 people visiting us, seeing some theatre, eating some cake, hanging out and making new contacts (you can find out more about how that went here). So we've decided we're coming back.
This year, we've curated a rich and varied programme that really shows off some of the most exciting work from the north of England.

For the whole festival, we set up home in St Stephen's, a beautiful Georgian church, in the heart of New Town. Each year, we create two new performance spaces in the meeting room and church hall and kit out a brand new cafe bar and foyer. We're open from 11am to 11pm most nights.
Not been to St Stephen's or can't get there? You can watch our short tour-film made by our good friend and colleague Topher McGrillis.
The project has been made possible thanks to the support of Arts Council England and our main sponsor AC Lighting.

Have a look around this site for details of the 2013 programme what's on, more behind the scenes features and details of the project. And come and visit us in Edinburgh during the festival and tell us what you think.
