From our Friends: Northern Writers' Awards

New Writing North: Northern Writers' Awards 2012

For writers who live and work in the North East of England. The awards are supported by Arts Council England and sponsored by The Leighton Group.

The awards exist to support talented writers to move their work towards puiblication.  The awards primarily support poets, novelists and prose writers working on biographies and memoirs.  The judges for 2012 are Simon Trwin, agent at United Agents; Laura Palmer, publisher at Head of Zeus; and writer and poet Paul Farley.

Award winners will receive a grant, an opportunity for mentoriing and/or a professional critique of their work, and selected writers will be invited to a networking meeting with agents and editors hosted by New Writing North.

The deadline for submissions is Friday 20 April at 4pm.
