Metamorphosis

Drama

A Lyric Hammersmith and Vesturport Theatre production
METAMORPHOSIS

A six-legged nightmare by Franz Kafka
Adapted and directed by David Farr and Gísli Örn Gardarsson
Music by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis

One of 2006’s hottest shows, Franz Kafka’s eerie and fantastical story sees the unremarkable life of the Samsas turned upside down when their son, Gregor, emerges one morning inexplicably transformed into a monstrous insect. As revulsion turns to resentment, strange things start to happen to the Samsa family….

Both comic and profoundly moving, this hugely acclaimed and imaginative production combines jaw-dropping aerial physicality, a gravity-defying split level set and a mesmerising score of original music by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.

The press on Metamorphosis:

"One of the highlights of the year… Absorbing and haunting… A show that often makes you gasp with its visual and gymnastic ingenuity… A knockout combination of intelligence and dramatic daring." DAILY TELEGRAPH
"A triumph." ***** THE GUARDIAN
