Late Shows 2009: The Half
Launched at Northern Stage in May with an after-hours showing as part of The Late Shows, The Half, the exhibition of over 100 black and white photos by Simon Annand, gives an usually unseen view of many of the most celebrated actors in theatre, including Vanessa Redgrave, Judi Dench, Martin Sheen, Jim Broadbent and many more.
On loan from London's Victoria and Albert museum until June 30, Annand's images document the many ways in which actors transform themselves into the fictional characters about to be played, in 'the half' hour before they go on stage. With a chance to see 25 years of theatre history, this exhibition is not to be missed.
And if you were lucky enough to recreate your own Half image at the exhibition's late-night launch, head over to the Late Shows gallery. Images are available to buy until 12 June for a small fee.
