Sign up for the Wang Qingsong photograph

Wang Qingsong is a highly acclaimed Chinese artist based in Beijing, who creates theatrical installations on a large scale, with hundreds of people caught up in a seemingly dramatic moment. We are lucky enough to be welcoming him for a residency here, following his visit to the region back in February.

At Northern Stage he will create a new work exploring the notion of pain and healing, and theatre as a cathartic experience. 300 local volunteers will be part of this unique live installation, which will be staged and photographed in Stage 1. Participants will be made up to look like hospital patients for the photograph - a fantastic opportunity to work with an internationally renowned artist.

We have now reached an exciting point in the development of the project, as recruitment begins for the 300 local participants who will appear in the photograph. We’re hoping for a huge response from around the region from people wishing to play a part – looking forward to getting those first forms in, as it makes the project seem even more real!
