Arts Award
Northern Stage is part of the Arts Award Scheme. We offer Arts Award activities, events and access to professionals, and can support young people to develop as artists and arts leaders, with a nationally recognised qualification.
Through Northern Stage, young people taking part in the Arts Award scheme can:
Take part in an arts activity such as our summer school, which is an annual week-long event culminating in a perfomance on our main stage.
We have a performance group, and a young performance group who take part in various performances. The young performance group create an annual project which culminates with a performance on the set of our Christmas Stage 1 production.
We can also put together a project specificially designed for your school or group, including art projects tied in with different events. We have activities such as Play in a Day where a piece of work is developed and performed over a day, as well as First in Three and Four Play which offer other opportunities for performers just starting out in putting work on stage.
Peeople can see and share work, come along to events, including talks, backstage tours, discussions and workshops. We are also part of the Free Theatre ticket initiative and can work with groups to offer reduced tickets for specific events. We take part in the Interact and the Creative Apprenticeship scheme. We also offer work placements and shadowing opportunities at various levels within the organisation. A variety of workshops and masterclasses ranging from voice and movement to symposiums, pre- and post- show discussions where you have the opportunity to meet and talk to the artists and designers. We have several spaces available, including gallery space for visitors to perform or present to their group.
